Community Supported Agriculture
The benefits of participating in a CSA are many. As a member you will not only enjoy all of the food but you will also know exactly where your food is grown and who grows it. All produce is organically grown, which means no pesticides and no herbicides. In a time of increasingly industrialized food production and the environmental problems that accompany it, won't it be good to know where your food is coming from?
Our summer 2012 season is fast approaching and we are currently accepting signup forms for the new summer season. We have two sizes of shares available; a full share for $700.00 and a half share for $400.00. Both the full share and half share is an overfilled half bushel box filled with orgainc vegetables grown on our farm. The difference in sizes is the frequency of pickup. The full share is pickup every week and the half share is pickup every other week. In joining the CSA program you will be eating seasonally. Meaning we only put in the box vegetables that are grown locally on our farm. Early spring boxes will include lettuce, kales, onions, strawberries. Summer boxes get into the tomatoes, peppers, squash, corn, melons, okra, beans, eggplant, blackberries. The late summer/fall finishes out with cabbages, sweet potatoes, butternuts, winter squashes, lettuces, chards, tomatoes. Over the course of the season we will grow 50-60 different vegetable varieties, including many heirlooms, to include in the CSA. Week to week, there are 8-12 different items in your box.
